Sunshine Coast Upcoming Events – July 2013

July seems to be a very busy month with a number of events being held around the Sunshine Coast and particularly the Cotton  Tree and Maroochydore area of the coast. Sunday the 14th of July is the date for this year’s NAIDOC Sunshine Coast Family Fun Day.  Head to Cotton Tree Park right beside the beautiful Maroochydore River and celebrate the traditions and cultures of native Australians. A great family day out with a range of free activities for all members of the family and a great opportunity to celebrate the contributions made to our community by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

A short drive to the Lake Kawana Community Centre on the 16th July and you will be able to see the 360 Allstars and their performance titled The Circus Reinvented. Comprising world class dancers, elite athletes, and musicians this performance promises to be like no other with the traditional circus as we know it reinvented into a contemporary performance with breakdancers, basketball freestylers and live music.  A great performance for all the family.

Head to Noosa on the 18th of July to see the Sydney Comedy Festival Showcase. This adult only event will have you laughing your head off as some of the best and funniest artists from the Sydney comedy event head north to Noosa to entertainment their Queensland audience. Book early as this event is bound to sell out real fast.

A change of pace with the Caloundra Quilt Show being held at the southern end of the Sunshine Coast at Caloundra on the weekend of the 27th to 28th July. With this years theme ‘Beside the Sea” you will love the quality of these hand made marvels that will be on display this year.

Winter means the beginning of the whale migration and Whale Watching Tours on the Sunshine Coast. Daily (weather dependent) tours leave from Mooloolaba’s wharf precinct on a daily basis and two cruises after the 17th August. Take advantage of the knowledgable guides on board and increase your knowledge of these amazing sea creatures and their behaviours. Get up close and personal with these amazing gentle giants of the ocean.

Peregian Originals. Live open air music event held every 1st and 3rd Sundays at Peregian Beach on the Sunshine Coast. Come and be a part of the live music and join in with the local community as they get together for not only this event but the Peregian Markets which are held on the same day at the surf club just near the foreshore.  Browse the markets and then kick back and enjoy some great live music….a great way to spend a Sunday.
